Modern villa NB | Bob Romijnders

The design of this villa takes into consideration its surrounding environment. The main building, featuring a pent roof, is 13 meters wide and is proportional to the adjacent plots. The roof appears to hover above the entrance, providing the living room and kitchen with a high ceiling and unique lighting.

The secondary structure connects to the neighboring plot with a limited building height, housing the master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a workshop, and garage. The ground floor did not have enough space to meet all the requirements, so the house was partially buried. The guest bedrooms, wine cellar, and wellness area are located beneath the building, maintaining a modest and understated building volume.

The environment has been carefully considered in the design of this villa. The main building with it’s pent roof is thirteen meters wide and is therefore in line with the scale of the two neighboring plots. The roof seems to float above the entrance, providing the living room and kitchen with an impressive ceiling height with abundant natural light.

The subordinate volume joins the neighboring plots with a limited building height. In this room are the master bedroom with bathroom ensuite, a workshop and garage. The ground floor did not provide enough space for all wishes. At the same time, we wanted to keep the visible building volume modest. That is why we chose to have a basement in the house. The bedrooms for guests, the wine cellar and a wellness area are located under the building.
