The project brief entrusted to Studio Nomad Interiors was to convert the existing two storey townhouse heritage listed to modern standards while retaining the original architectural character. The house was originally built in the 17th century during the times of the Knights of Malta and was the house of a well-known Archbishop in the beginning of the last century. The proposed new dwelling, to be used as a vacation residence by the owners, needed to convey its heritage while also offering a feeling of openness and comfort, utilising a cohesive, minimal design that ensured the original and new parts would not feel disjointed. Two additional floors were added to the build and the house now consists of a living room, kitchen and breakfast nook on the ground floor, a guest bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the first floor, a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the new floor on the second level and a guest bath, kitchenette and dining, laundry area, terrace and whilrpool on the new top level.
