YUANGU Restaurant Chengdu | Wuzhi Design

这家餐厅是中国西南地区的首店，也是成都的第一家店，所以对元古来说它的重要意义可见一斑。

YuanGu yunjing is the first store in Southwest China and also the first in Chengdu, so it is of great significance to YuanGu.

回忆起整个设计过程，如今还清晰可见。元古雲境餐厅位于太古里的二，三层。整体结构比较特别，入口在二层，而主体营业区在三层，两个空间是通过楼梯进行连接的，这种结构给运营带来不小的困扰，所以入口的设计尤为重要，为了突出元古特点，选用了老石板与老木板来提升气质，楼梯走道神秘而悠长，当你步入于此仿佛进入了一个冥想之庭，远方尽头的一丝光芒，让你心之向往。进入三层平台光线瞬间明亮，映入眼帘的是一个精致的小院，院子虽然很小却是餐厅的核心，并以天地为背景.竹石为点缀。以人文著称的元古空间，因为小院而更加的亲近自然。在这个咫尺之地，风雨四季，二十四节气，争相绽放。

Recalling the whole process of design, it is still clear. YuanGu yunjing is located on the second and the third floor of Chengdu Yuanyang Taikooli. However, we had a quite special structure of this restaurant. The store entrance is on the second floor, while the main commercial area is on the third floor. The two sections are connected by a long stair, which brings us many troubles to the operation team. As a result, the design of entrance is particularly important. In order to highlight the characteristics of Yuangu, we choose the old stone and old wood to improve the quality of façade. The stair is mysterious, long and narrow. When you enter here, you seem to come into a meditation court with a ray of light at the end of the distance. When you enter the third floor, the light is instantly bright and you will see an exquisite courtyard. Although the yard is small, it is the core of the restaurant, with the sky and the ground as the background, with bamboo and stones as embellishments. YuanGu, which is famous for its humanities, is closer to the nature. In this small yard, you could feel wind, rain, changes of four seasons and the twenty-four solar terms.

营业区分成三个部分，第一部分为厨房、包间、洗手间，第二部分为吧台、院子、散台区.第三部分抬高散台区。虽说每个空间各自为政，但是都与院子有着若即若离的关系。厨房在角落，原先布置好的水电，燃气，让我们别无选择，为了控制成本将洗手间和包间安排在此。相对封闭的空间可以尽量避免出餐，回餐的打扰。接下来是吧台、院子、散台区域，三个区域互为景观，互相依存，可谓你中有我，我中有你。最后是抬高散台区，该区相对独立，安静，静静流水让人更加惬意，你可以通过元古商店遥望庭院，也可以透过砖墙窥视吧台，从而让这个相对独立的空间与整体合二为一。

The business area is divided into three parts, the first part is the kitchen, private rooms and toilets, the second part is the bar, yard and long-seat area, the third part is lobby, which has an ambiguous relationship with the central yard. The kitchen is in the corner since the original equipment rooms are arranged in advance and we have no choice to change. We put the two toilets and private rooms beside the kitchen because of the budget. The enclosed space can avoid the disturbance of dining out and returning as much as possible. Next, the bar house, the yard and the long-seat area are the landscape of each other. Last, it is the lobby, that is relatively independent and quiet. The quiet water makes people more comfortable. You could look into the courtyard through the yuangu shop and also peep into the bar through the brick wall.

餐厅开业之后，有人问我餐厅的设计灵感？我觉得这是个严肃的问题，我曾经多次提过形式只是设计的结果而不是我们所追求的目标。不管怎样在设计的过程中更多的还是理性的思考，比如动线问题，如何提高空间利用率，节能，光等等。当你在解决和平衡这些问题之后空间形式就自然形成了，至于元古为什么会是这个样子，那是和元古精神密切相关一一简单，自然，温暖。当你带着这三个问题设计的时候一切就不言自明了。

After the restaurant opened, someone asked me about the design inspiration. I think this is a serious problem. I have mentioned many times that form is only the result of design, not the goal we pursue. Anyway, we need more rational thinking, such as the flow line, energy saving, how to improve space utilization and so on. When you keep balance of these problems, the design is finished. If you ask me why the YuanGu is like this, I think it is closely related to the YuanGu spirit- simple, natural and warm. When you bring these three key words to our design, everything comes clear.
