This residential development project is located on the former property of the Sisters of Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc. The development initially provides for the transformation of the convent complex into condo units and the expansion of the west wing in 1964.
The project's approach is developed around the orientations and recommendations of the Ministry of Culture and Communications included in its conservation plan as well as in its management framework for large properties in the historic district of Sillery. Six (6) orientations are listed there:
• Preserve large parcels by avoiding their fragmentation by opening new streets or subdividing;
• Respect the landscape character by protecting large spaces;
• Highlight the dominance of wooded areas;
• Preserve the visual breakthroughs towards the river and the south shore, from the public domain;
• Respect the architectural typology and development systems of large properties, depending on the presence of conventual buildings or villas;
• Control the size of new constructions according to the impact on the landscape and on the living environment.

The expansion works are part of the principles of conservation, integration and enhancement of the site. This orientation makes it possible to preserve all of the exceptional woodland present on the site. It also makes it possible to fully preserve the park in front of the building and the panoramic views overlooking the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding area.

The architectural language of the existing building retains consistency between its history and its new function. The enlargements are inspired by the materiality of the conventual complex composed mainly of brick and stone.

As an integral part of phase 1 of the overall project, the project to transform the existing building into 39 condo units must undergo exterior modifications. First, new openings made in the building envelope to provide more openness to the river and the panorama. The minimalist approach adopted, both for the interventions carried out and for the language chosen for the new architectural elements, is intended to respect the past and the existing. Considered in this light, the aim is to distinguish among the changes made the original elements while allowing the building to evolve in its new function.

Forming an integral part of the transformation of the existing building, the continuation of phase 1 is an extension of 4 levels leaning against the west facade of the wing of 1964. This addition is part of the objectives aimed at adjusting the templates of new constructions according to the characteristics of the existing and the environment. It allows the development of 17 additional condo units. For the sake of overall cohesion, this extension is covered with red brick and the base is also covered with gray stone.
