The listed Kurhaus Baden-Baden is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List and, in the course of a holistic renovation and redesign by DIA - Dittel Architekten, receives a modernized gastronomy and store area with a high-quality appearance on more than 600 square meters. The landmark captivates as a historical heart of the city with its classicist architecture and is considered a very special cultural monument of the spa town with its noble exterior and cityscape-defining effect.

The new design fits into the overall architectural-historical context, interprets the identity of Baden-Baden in a modern way analogous to the Baden-regional cuisine and makes creative reference to the surrounding Black Forest. The interplay of modern elements, exciting lighting design and historical inventory radiates coziness, modernity and exclusivity and results in an inviting room composition.

Inspired by the composer Hector Berlioz, the Kurhaus restaurant has been given its new name “HECTORS”. As in the music, the focus in the restaurant will in future be on enjoyment. Many elements that are more than a hundred years old are a defining element of the new concept and tell the story of the building. Golden accents and brass details, as well as the square design language are recurring and flow characteristically through all areas. The square parquet coffers, as well as the existing marble floor, were refurbished in accordance with historic preservation standards and harmoniously integrated into the design concept as existing elements. The coffered ceiling in classicist style receives the attention it deserves through modern lighting and lends the area an unmistakable ambience.

Changing accent colors define the spatial zoning and the different usage spectrums of the interior design: while dark blue defines the restaurant and café area, dark green was chosen for the lounge and Bordeaux for the separee. Room dividers made of brass filled with textured glass are oriented to the walkways, provide intimacy without restricting the openness of the areas in their development and act as a connecting element.

With the different seating areas, the space offers a high quality of stay for every type of dwell time: At cozy side tables, classically elevated at the bar or in comfortable sofas, guests can participate in the social events, enjoy the diverse gastronomic offerings and relax in the exclusive flair.
