A fragmented layout in a mid-century house separated a family of four during their daily activities. Architects AGORA architecture + design re-configured the spaces to create an open plan living layout.

The spaces were opened up by removing walls and leaving a new steel structure exposed to outline the activity zones. A minimal fireplace created a cosy “snug” at the centre. The kitchen and dining areas were positioned to the rear, with bi-fold doors and a picture window carefully arranged to maximise light and frame views to the back garden. Kitchen appliances are hidden behind timber doors to adapt the kitchen as part of the living room area.
