DUBAI SEA HOUSE
The project interprets Arab culture and architectural elements in a contemporary key.
It is based on a geometry of simple volumes interlocked together hinged in a block thatrepresents the distributive element of the stairwell.
In the traditional Arab context, the use of the Mashrabiyya is recurrent, a shielding system that protects from the sun’s rays, facilitates the ventilation of the rooms, modulates the sunlight to create pleasant shaded environments and at the same time guarantees the privacy of the
inhabitants of the villa.
The design had to respect two types of constraints:
- Urban planning: through strict rules on the distances and heights allowed;
- Formal: dictated by the need to imagine a space where everything could be connected in a single environment through a game of references and glimpses, and together dynamically tended towards the sea.
