A renew farmhouse Loulé / Portugal

Little remained of this abandoned farmhouse when Core got its hands on it. Stone walls made up the original house, while a brick extension took its floorspace up to 106 m2. A straw roof blocked out some sunlight over concrete floors in certain rooms, while others were left open to the elements, vegetation taking over more and more as time went on.

Then came the renovation, almost tripling the size of the built area of this construction, opting for a trapeze-shaped home, as is common in many of our designs. North-facing bedrooms line the shorter side of the trapeze, while south-facing living and kitchen areas on the house’s longer side ensure maximum sun exposure and passive heating.
