Easy moon - Easi Remote Control Transmitter Domus Line and Desall contest 2021

A lighting remote control should not be designed like a TV remote control.

Its design should provide a different, emotional experience of the enchantment of light and at the same time affirm the ideal characteristics of the high-profile lighting fixtures produced by the client.

This is why I designed Easi moon: a crescent moon that shines when the switch is pressed like a small moon in the night, ideally transferring its light to the rest of the house.

It communicates to the user a subtle emotion capable of expressing the magic of light, night and creative play.

But it is also a modular object designed to change shape, colour and power very easily, allowing the product to renew itself and adapt to new stylistic and industrial perspectives.

Easi moon can be easily positioned in a wall support that enhances its design and allows, with an innovative hooking system, to use it also directly on the wall.

Product design

 ·        Brilliant and communicative with a strong emotional impact:

each time it is switched on, both the white outer bezel and the keys light up.

·        Designed in a non-symmetrical and anthropocentric form:

no part is identical to the other and the two side buttons are not the same, allowing immediate internalisation of the structure and highly intuitive daily use.

·        Ergonomic: there is a useful space in the front for gripping the remote control without touching the buttons.

·        Waterproof and non-slip base:

the battery door has been eliminated so you can place it on a wet surface without any problems. (up to ½ cm of water, e.g. a spilled glass of wine).

·        Different shapes with different functions for a differentiated and immediate perception:

keys with similar functions have been aggregated for ease of use and functional consistency.

·        Structured with permanent and interchangeable parts:

it is possible to change the shape of the entire remote control and the colour of the central body, creating many products with different impacts, adaptable to various stylistic and industrial requirements.

·        Accessible:

the logos of the controls are printed on small thicknesses for tactile recognition of the controls.

·        Innovative:

a rechargeable battery can be inserted via a USB port, thus qualifying charging duration, stability and economy of use.

Why settle for a single remote control?

A design with two possible shapes: square and rounded.

Designed to evolve: by changing only two elements of the body (the white outer ring and the dark base) the remote control acquires two different shapes and two different characters.

- Square

Square, rigorous and serious lines. There is a slight chamfer that enhances the modernity of the lines. The end point of the bezel gives a strong architectural and plastic sense.

- Rounded

Attractive, available and familiar. The strong curvature at the top and bottom streamlines it, building a strong visual and constructive integration between the parts of the product.

 The wall bracket

 The shape of the remote control is enhanced by the plastic shape of the holder frame, which is designed to be used directly on the wall.

Not a pocket, but a real stand that allows the remote control to be placed firmly on the wall and used as a real switch.

To achieve this, it was necessary to design a special holder.

The special countersink in the frame pushes the remote control into the right position, allowing easy insertion.

The opening at the top of the frame allows the insertion of the finger for easy extraction of the remote control.The fixing systemis innovative: the special shape "sucks" the remote control in, locking it in its exact position.

 Designed for added value.

The design and functions are intended to enhance the lighting systems to which they are connected, moving the remote control away from the concept of a consumer item and towards that of a unique design object with intrinsic value.

This is why I imagined supplying it to the customer in a high-end package that enhances the uniqueness and preciousness of the product and, at the same time, enhances and elevates the entire collection of all the light fittings it controls.
