Yugen, an important concept of traditional Japanese aesthetics, is an expression of depth, of what cannot be translated, of the incomprehensible and abstract that passes from philosophy to art. By contrasting the shadow with the intervals of light produced by the windows and the illuminated surface of the kitchen, through the hidden landscape that eventually reveals itself, Casa Yugen makes a non-verbal invitation to the space where you can glimpse the beauty of
the mystery of the universe and our human condition.
 
 The curved wall of the entrance hall, with its shape and tonality, creates an infinite “plane” on the concave side, which hides the landscape. of the mystery,
of the contrast, of the landscape that reveals itself little by little. The wall also, when viewed from within the environment, creates a central axis that unfolds the social area without corners, in an organic way.
The water mirror in front of the long windows reflects the macro bonsai that seem to float and the day sky. The texture and natural light vary very markedly, creating a new landscape with textures of sun and water throughout the days.
In all corners of the 'L' plan spaces interact. The unusual way in which André Gippi's Ramona armchair was positioned, communicates with the living room, while the living room opens onto the anteroom and the kitchen/dining room.

The dark walls that embrace the environment frame the lighted windows, the painting by Rubens Oestroem, the kitchen, the furniture, the decoration, the floor and the ceiling, the sky and the earth. The chiaroscuro as a way of playing with the concept, in which elements are highlighted, hidden and mimicked on the surfaces, in a way that plays with the protagonism of the pieces; in the living room the sofa and coffee table merge with the rug that merges into the floor. The dark bookcase, as it is composed, mimics the horizon of the opposite wall, with overturned books, hidden knowledge, and the water that is also present in the bar and in the work ‘Ponta do Coral I’ by Alessandro Gruetzmacher.

The false rubber tree, proportionately large for an internal space, works as a physical and visual landmark between the living room and the kitchen. The choice of large-format vegetation also plays with scales. In a concept always adopted by the architect in which the natural and the built environment, the plants with the view from the window, the natural light and that of the luminaires should mutually enrich each other.

The kitchen, with a purist off white and white background, with translucent shelf lighting, evokes light from windows it doesn't have. This is punctuated with the Nile Quartz island, organic and dark as a monolith that has been appropriated by the house and takes on a function. In it are
the deca vat and drying rack that seem to have been sculpted in the volume.

Yugen, um importante conceito da estética tradicional japonesa, é expressão de profundidade, do que não pode ser traduzido, do incompreensível e do abstrato que transita da filosofia à arte. Através da contraposição da sombra com os intervalos de luz que produzem as janelas e a superfície iluminada da cozinha, através da paisagem oculta que eventualmente se revela, Casa Yugen faz um convite não verbal ao espaço em que se pode vislumbrar a beleza do mistério do universo e de nossa condição humana. 

A parede curva do hall de entrada, com seu formato e tonalidade, cria no lado côncavo um “plano” infinito, que oculta a paisagem.Transitar pelo hall e ver as esculturas do estúdio Lopomo posicionadas quase de forma cronológica, convida a apreciar um pouco do mistério, do contraste, de paisagem que se revela aos poucos. A parede também, quando vista de dentro do ambiente cria um eixo de centro que desenrola a área social sem quinas, de forma orgânica.

O espelho d’água diante das longas janelas, reflete os macro bonsais que parecem flutuar e o céu do dia. A textura e a luz natural variam de forma muito marcada, criando uma nova paisagem com texturas de sol e de água ao longo dos dias.
Em todos os cantos da planta em ‘L’ os espaços interagem. A forma inusitada como foi posicionada a poltrona Ramona de André Gippi, se comunica com a sala de estar, enquanto a sala se abre para a antessala e a cozinha/sala de jantar.

As paredes escuras que abraçam o ambiente emolduram as janelas iluminadas, o quadro de Rubens Oestroem, a cozinha, os móveis, a decoração, o chão e o teto, o céu e a terra. O claro-escuro como forma de brincar com o conceito, em que elementos se evidenciam, se ocultam e mimetizam nas superfícies, de forma que brinca com o protagonismo das peças; na sala de estar o sofá e a mesa de centro se fundem ao tapete que se funde ao chão. A estante escura, como fica composta, faz mimica do horizonte da parede oposta, com livros virados, saberes ocultos, e a água que também se faz presente no bar e na obra ‘Ponta do Coral I’ de Alessandro Gruetzmacher.

A falsa seringueira, proporcionalmente grande para um espaço interno, funciona como
marco físico e visual entre estar e cozinha. A escolha das vegetações em formato grande também brinca com as escalas. Num conceito sempre adotado pelo arquiteto em que o meio natural e o construído, as plantas com a vista da janela, a luz natural e a das luminárias devem se enriquecer mutuamente.

A cozinha, com um plano de fundo purista off White e branco, com a iluminação da prateleira translúcida, evoca a luz das janelas que não possui. Esta é pontuada com a ilha Quartzo Nilo, orgânica e escura como um monolito que foi apropriado pela casa e toma uma função. Nela estão a cuba e escorredor deca que parecem ter sido esculpidos no volume.
