(EN) The intention for this project leaned on the idea that the built ‘object’ would not collide with its surroundings, but that it would integrate with them, in a natural way, asserting itself, without imposing. Outlined by a platform, appears the residential building with three floors, two of which above the ground, as a way to free part of the terrain to the patio and allow the use of the exterior space.

The presented volumetry results from the deconstruction and dematerialization of the ‘traditional’ form of the house – a pure volume, with an inclined roof. That volume is cut longitudinally, resulting in just ‘half a house’ – a volume that becomes the work base for the articulation of the functional program. Naturally, and in conjugation with the different spaces of the interior programmatic organization, negative spaces were ‘removed’ in the form, which represent covered areas and balconies. A compact exterior volumetry was sought for, trimmed by ‘empty’ spaces, but with a reduced street front, deconstructing the form, so it favours the entrance of natural light.

Based on a simple habitational concept, was developed a house for ‘daily use’. It’s through the valorization of the living space that we obtain clarity and succession between spaces. This idea translates into a very fluid space, promoting communication between common areas. If we observe the space since its central core, given the present double-height floor, we can understand a natural communication between the main social area and the rest of the spaces, apprehending also the upper floor, where the rooms are linked through an ‘interior balcony’.  The space amplitude, reinforced by its clarity and light, allows the spaces to develop in a natural way, adapting the program in a sequential form. So, the ‘open space’ concept allows an ample relationship between all the habitation spaces.

Besides the interior spatial relations, it also sought a relationship with the exterior and the nature. The negatives trimmed in the elevations impose a direct relationship between the interior spaces and their exterior, materializing themselves in covered exterior spaces, ensuring privacy towards its surroundings. The compacted volumetry, with its materiality in neutral tones and the ‘voids’ trimmed on the mass, that pretend to transmit the sensation of frames on the landscape, establish a relationship of harmony.

A pretensão para este projeto apoiou-se na ideia de que o “objeto” construído não colidisse com a envolvente próxima, mas que se integrasse com esta de forma natural, afirmando-se sem se impor. Delineado por uma plataforma, surge o edifício de habitação com 3 pisos, 2 dos quais acima do solo, de forma a libertar parte do terreno para a zona de logradouro e aproveitamento do espaço exterior.

A volumetria apresentada resulta da desconstrução e desmaterialização da forma “tradicional” da casa – um volume puro, com duas águas. Esse volume é “cortado” longitudinalmente, resultando daí apenas “meia casa” – volume este que se torna base de trabalho para a articulação do programa funcional. Naturalmente, e em conjugação com os diferentes espaços da organização programática interior, foram “retirados” espaços negativos na forma, que representam zonas de cobertos e varandas. Procurou-se uma volumetria exterior compacta, recortada pelos espaços “vazios”, mas com uma frente de rua reduzida, desconstruindo assim a forma para que se privilegie a entrada de luz natural.

Assente num conceito simples de habitar, desenvolveu-se uma habitação para o ‘uso’ diário.  É através da valorização dos espaços de estar que se obtém uma clareza da sucessão entre espaços. Esta ideia traduz-se num espaço bastante fluido, promovendo a comunicação entre as áreas comuns. Se observamos o espaço desde o seu núcleo central, dado o pé direito duplo presente, conseguimos perceber uma comunicação natural entre a principal zona social e os restantes espaços, compreendendo também o piso superior, onde os quartos são ligados através de uma ‘varanda interior’, comunicante com a sala. A amplitude do espaço, reforçada pela sua clareza e pela luz, permite que os espaços se desenvolvam de forma natural adequando o programa de uma forma sequencial. Assim, o conceito ‘open space’ permite uma ampla relação entre todos os espaços da habitação.

Além das relações espaciais interiores, procurou-se também relação com o exterior e a natureza. Os negativos recortados nos alçados impõem uma relação direta entre o interior dos espaços e o seu exterior, materializando-se em espaços exteriores cobertos, garantindo a privacidade face à envolvente próxima. A volumetria compacta em articulação com a sua materialidade em tons neutros e os “vazios” recortados na massa que pretendem transmitir a sensação de molduras enquadradas na paisagem estabelecem uma relação de harmonia.
