The total redesign of an emblematic building, which has been in decline for years, was a unique challenge. The smooth addition of a new building in the urban fabric of Athens and the sustainability requirements that should be met were the main issues.

The iconic building in which for many years were the headquarters for one of the most popular Greek newspapers, the “Eleftherotypia”, was redesigned and is now ready for a new chapter. The customer service company Webhelp Hellas (that is part of the French conglomerate Webhelp), will be housed in the new building from now on.

The architectural study was undertaken by Thymios Papagiannis & Partners and the construction by ELIN Technical. Responsible for the project management was Dimand. Τhe building gained new life in its existing structure, which was totally reshaped in order to meet the modern needs of Webhelp.

In particular, this is a 6-storey building with two basements and a roof of 15.173,42 m2. The building’s facades were designed with respect to its history and the wider urban area that surrounds it. The overall design brings prestige and the simple-clean lines spread a sense of safety.

The energy upgrade of the building was of great significance therefore its design followed the bioclimatic principle, according to the new, highly demanding LEED 4.1 system. The ground floor – apart from the lobby – it also has a restaurant, a multi-use hall and a gym. From the 1st to the 6th floor are developed office spaces. The general building structure was equipped with premium quality aluminium frames and curtain walls, that provide high energy efficiency. In addition, they offer top functionality and security, while following the vision of the bioclimatic design.
