Homelessness is having an impact in large metropolitan cities like Los Angeles. Not In My Back Yard 03 (Nymby 03) explores the idea of transitional housing in communities where homelessness has been largely criminalized or misunderstood. Following the Housing First concept, this proposal, as a way of giving back to neighbors, can also provide for clean electricity to the immediately adjacent properties. In Los Angeles, one solar panel can produce an average of 33.5 kWh per month. A system of 140 solar panels can produce a monthly average of 4,690 kWh per month. The average home consumes 897 kWh per month. NYMBY03 can provide enough electricity to sustain itself and perhaps for 4 neighboring homes. It can be a sensible compromise, and an opportunity to help others transition to a level of normality and dignity while providing clean energy to the community. #transitionalhousing #sustainablearchitecture #landscapedesign #communityimpact
