Østerport station is listed and represents some of the finest of the Danish buildings. The station was designed by DSB's chief architect Heinrich Wenck at the end of the 19th century. The renovation happened while maintaining full train services, which created great demands on the approach, logistics, and planning of the renovation project. The newly renovated Østerport Station by KHR architecture will accommodate a higher number of passengers than earlier on. The building and forecourt have been designed to accommodate the increasing passenger flow between buses, commuter trains, the coastal railway, and the metro.
