Dehua has a history of 3700 years of porcelain making. From the Song and Yuan dynasties, Dehua white porcelain has been famous for its advantages as the first port in the east of Quanzhou. Today, there are still many artists in Dehua County who inherit and carry forward the white porcelain culture. Ceramics originate from the fusion of soil, water, and fire, so unlike the coldness of traditional art museums, Longpeng Ceramic Museum brings soil into the museum to show people the charm of millennia of ceramics.

Living with nature for a thousand years

The focus of the design is to consider the symbiotic relationship between nature and space. The ancient riverbed that was original to be landfilled is preserved, and natural stones are placed in the space along the flowing water. While acting as a moving line, it seems to be playing music under the washing of the flowing water.

The naturally stacked stone fireplace breaks the coldness of the traditional art space. The beating flames, flowing water, and stones make the space agile together.

This is a hidden place where the river has been stored for thousands of years

An earthen wall with a length of more than 200 meters, a height of 4 meters, and a thickness of nearly 1 meter run through the entire space. It not only respects traditional craftsmanship, but also uses modern white space processing to connect local symbols of millennia of civilization and reshape the advocacy of nature in the space.

The natural mud color of the soil wall weakens the coldness of the space and solves the need for art display, awakening the inner strength of people in the space with the most essential beauty.

Derived from the inspiration of ceramic craftsmanship and traditional Chinese gardens, we merged the traditional Chinese five elements into an overall hollow window, giving the space more diversified ceramic cultural concepts.

Boulders from nature

The giant natural stone of 4 meters high and 2 meters wide is mined using local traditional craftsmanship, retaining the traces of axe chiseling during mining, and echoing the earth wall. The two materials, one rigid and one soft, perfectly blend nature, art, and human emotions.

The natural boulders represent the rough vitality in nature, bring a strong visual impact, and construct the spatial charm of space spirit and regeneration art.

Nothing is everything

A large area of white space creates a simple space structure, and every corner is very suitable for photography, guiding the dialogue between the audience and the space.

The cross wall of the foyer cleverly hides the four abrupt pillars in the original space, which expands the cross space, which invisibly guides the functional division of the space.

The misplaced staircase installation inspires the audience's interest in exploration. We want to allow the audience to blend into the space.

The specially designed lighting not only displays the artwork but also plays the function of light and shadow transformation in the space, making the whole space full of vitality.
