The Mexican Pavilion is taking advantage of its centric location within the American pavilions of the Expo site and uses the entire plot available for its development in one single floor. Formally, the project is conceived as an enormous talus, becoming a public plaza that connects to the network of the Expo’s circulations and public plazas. Two openings, which are cut into the talus mark the pavilion’s entrance and exit. The entrance is more generous than the exit, attracting visitors and facilitating their welcome. There are two possibilities for visitors to enter the pavilion; going up to the elevated plaza (which symbolizes the future of Mexico), or going down to the programmatic areas that contain the exhibition and the restaurant, amongst others. This second option symbolizes the history of Mexico, which is contained in the basement.
