For the owners of the bar “Eigengrau” a concept was developed in which the characteristics of a bar should be combined with that of a small restaurant and also the possibility to play music.

The well-connected owners in the Berlin club scene wanted a cool look, combined with flexible seating options for different usage scenarios. This was created in a basement unit, which used to be a steakhouse.

The entire facility has been dismantled, including floor and wall coverings. The unusual cut led to a zoning of the store, where the drinks counter and DJ position themselves side by side.

Due to the low room height, studio karhard and Room Division have designed an elaborate lighting system that, together with the rough plaster surface of the walls, allows a diverse scenic staging.

A microbar has been installed in the rear area, which can also be closed when not in operation and then acts as a light object.
