THE OLD BARREL LOFT | Alexandre Xavier de Pina

Loft in a top floor of an apartment building dated from 1910. It was a renovation till "the bone". The apartment was in a bad conservation state, in it's original state since construction.The challenge was to transform it in an modern, sophisticated full of light apartment The project was to create a loft a with 60m2 with a social area, one bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. The concept was to use the structure and materials as part of the Interior Design and not hide them with covering solutions. Being the top floor allowed to use the Attic space. But the low hight of it only made possible to create an intermediate floor, mezzanine, used for bedroom. This way the apartment gain a considerable ceilling hight of almost 6m, confering an imense sense of space to this small old Lisbon building apartment
