The new Everard Read gallery is to replace the existing gallery on the same site. The site is part of the Portswood precinct in the V&A Waterfront. The building consists of a basement, two exhibition floors, and a roof deck. There is also an administration wing planned into the existing courtyard. The building is conceived as a solid form, with its volume being opened up strategically to allow light and access functionality. This will allow the building to introvert for the display of paintings and sculpture. The roof deck is partially covered with an organic free-form roof which acts as a visual marker for Everard Read in their precinct
