The architectural concept of this project came as a result of the Volvo design standards and requirements along with local rules and legislations, and client’s requests. The site area is composed of 3.9 Ha, which is still under construction and it consists of 4 main buildings. The Volvo Car Dealer Building, which is located in the Western part of the site, is a two-storey establishment dedicated to car exposition and workshops. The entire Volvo Car Dealer Building concept is based on contrasts, open versus closed, warm versus cold. The etched glass façades with wooden framed Shop Window and Showroom Entrance feature are designed to draw attention and to help the customer to focus on the products on display. With the etched glass, we get a variation in the look throughout the day – white and solid during daylight hours and translucent during the evenings.

The simplicity of the building at large is what attracts customers from afar. The minimalist approach of using the entire building as a draw-in is complemented by the use of contrasting

“Focus Points”. For instance, the Showroom Entrance is inviting and relates to the human-scale in size and detail. It is glowing with warmth, encouraging the customers to enter. When the rest of the façade is simple and clean, the eye is guided to this point making it obvious that this is where you enter the building.

In contrast to the cool exteriors, customers find its interior warm and welcoming. The interior showroom consists of the “Street” and the “Living Room Area”. The “Street Area” is characterized by its raw yet sophisticated appeal, while the “Living Room Area” is perceived as welcoming and relaxed. In contrast to the “Street Area”, the “Living Area” has warm materials such as wood, leather and textiles. The Building has to be experienced as spacious, exciting, exclusive and luxurious environments, and influenced by Scandinavian design
