The major challenge of this expansion project was how to solve out the vertical communications between the 4 existing floors, since the original stairs not only occupied a large part of each floor total area, but also gave rise to trapezoidal spaces, frequently hard to use. The stairs relocation, adjoining the neighbouring gable, (the part of the house most far from the privileged sea view), has freed up much area to create more suitable spaces to deal with modern life needs. At the same time, it was efficiently achieved not only more useful area, but also an entire sea view, thus achieving unforgettable views from all the house's rooms.

In the semi-basement, the car access floor, it was built up a large garage/storage/technical area, besides the laundry, the berth, the bathroom to support the berth and also the small patio.

On the ground-floor (where is the main pedestrian entrance to the house), it could be found the social areas as the kitchen, open to the living room, and the guest toilet, apart from the living and the dining rooms. It was also added one small terrace over the garage to take the best experience of the amazing ocean view, once again. On the 2nd floor, we have two bedrooms and one shared bathroom, plus a suite, located in the advanced body of the house. At last, in the 3rd floor (top floor), it was proposed a living-room/office/library with a complete bathroom and some storage area, to support the terrace of this floor, which has the most beautiful sea view. 

Because it is a building of public interest, the outside intervention was based on the carpentry and stained-glass recovery, maintaining its own original features with a simple reading design and regarding its surroundings. 

In the exterior zone, the coverage of the advanced garage volume was transformed into a terrace for common use. In this case, the idea was to seize the privileged location of the building (right above the sea). By connecting this outdoor area with the existing terrace, on the south side of the façade, and by designing a new balcony on the top floor, two large exterior terraces were created, highlighting the relationship between the house and the landscape.

O grande desafio neste projecto de ampliação passou por resolver as comunicações verticais entre os 4 pisos existentes, já que as escadas originais não só ocupavam grande parte da área total de cada piso, como originavam espaços trapezoidais de difícil utilização corrente. Com a relocalização das escadas para o lado confinante da empena vizinha (zona da casa mais afastada das vistas privilegiadas de mar), libertou-se muita área de modo a criar espaços mais adequados às necessidades de vivência actuais e, ao mesmo tempo, conseguiu-se não só um ganho de mais área útil de maneira eficaz, como ainda se libertou toda a frente de mar, obtendo assim vistas inesquecíveis de praticamente todas as divisões da casa.

Na semi-cave, piso de acesso automóvel, criou-se uma ampla garagem/arrumos/zona técnica, para além de uma lavandaria, uma camarata, uma instalação sanitária (i.s.) de apoio à camarata e ainda um pequeno logradouro.

No piso 0 (com a entrada principal da casa pedonal) encontram-se as zonas sociais, nomeadamente uma cozinha aberta para a sala e uma i.s. social, para além das salas de estar e de jantar. Um pequeno terraço sobre a garagem também foi acrescentado de modo a mais uma vez tirar o melhor partido das vistas privilegiadas sobre o oceano. No segundo piso temos dois quartos e uma i.s. de uso partilhado mais uma suite localizada no corpo avançado da moradia. Por fim, no terceiro e último piso, propõe-se uma sala/escritório/biblioteca, com uma i.s. completa e uns arrumos de apoio ao terraço também criado neste piso. Terraço este com as melhores vistas sobre o mar. 

Por se tratar de um imóvel classificado, a intervenção exterior pautou-se pela recuperação das carpintarias e vitrais, mantendo as suas características originais com um desenho de simples leitura e em conformidade com a sua envolvente.

Na parte exterior, converteu-se a cobertura do volume avançado da garagem em terraço para um uso integrado da habitação aproveitando a localização privilegiada em que se encontra o edifício (bem em cima do mar). Ao ligar a esta área externa o terraço já existente do lado da fachada sul, e ao desenhar um novo terraço no último piso, criaram-se assim dois amplos terraços exteriores, valorizando a relação da moradia com as vistas.
