GREENCOCOON, LA METAMORFOSI VERDE DEL GRATTACIELO. (ITA) In passato il grattacielo, geometrico e imponente, si presentava come simbolo incontrastato del dominio dell’uomo sulla natura. E sfidando con le sue forme le leggi della fisica, dominava l’ecosistema con la sua tecnologia invadente. Il grattacielo rappresentava la vittoria della costruzione umana, determinata e razionale, sulla labilità ambientale così fragile e delicata, talvolta ostile. Quel grattacielo era malato. Con GreenCocoon la natura entra nel grattacielo con le sue forme vegetali morbide e flessibili, penetra al suo interno sgretolandone la forma e la funzionalità, trasformandolo in un bozzolo verde dove la centralità della natura e dell’ambiente biologico predominano. Finalmente l’architettura non contrappone più l’uomo alla natura, ma cerca invece di limitare il più possibile l’impatto della sua presenza nell’ambiente e nell’ecosistema. Le fasce a spirale che avvolgono la struttura sembrano bendare e “curare” un corpo prima “malato”. Quelle bende, rivestite di una vernice capace di trasformare in energia la luce del sole, sono la tecnologia fotovoltaica d’avanguardia che “libera” la torre dall’essere una mostruosa città verticale, vera spugna energetica. GreenCocoon diventa così edilizia sostenibile, dove anche il design è espressione di tecnologia di fonti rinnovabili. La rivincita concessa dall’architettura alla natura è la salvezza dell’uomo, che comprende come solo dal rispetto della terra e dalla salvaguardia dell’ecosistema possa scaturire la vera vivibilità: non più dominio ma armonia. Gli scorci verso l’esterno e i particolari costruttivi i interni assumono una forma curvilinea dolce, in continuità con la forma architettonica complessiva. Il verde delle terrazze esprime una doppia funzionalità: vivibilità e comfort per l’uomo, rispetto e beneficio ecologico per l’ambiente. La passerella di accesso a GreenCocoon, con le sue sagome nastriformi specchiate nell’acqua, conferisce la sensazione di leggerezza, di movimento e di asimmetria tipica delle forme naturali. Ecco che il grattacielo, divenuto bozzolo verde, sembra attingere vita dallo specchio d’acqua su cui sorge, realizzando un habitat ideale. GREENCOCOON, THE GREEN METAMORPHOSIS OF THE SKYSCRAPER. (UK) In the past the geometric and imposing skyscraper stood as the uncontested symbol of man’s dominion over nature. By challenging the laws of physics with his forms, man dominated the ecosystem with his invasive technology. The skyscraper was the decisive and rational victory of human construction over the fragile, delicate and sometimes hostile environmental transience. It was a sick skyscraper. Nature has entered the skyscraper with its soft and flexible vegetal life forms with Green Cocoon, transforming it into a green pod, where the centrality of nature and the biological environment predominate. Architecture has finally stopped setting man against nature and is attempting, instead, to limit the impact of its presence in the environment and ecosystem as much as possible. The spiral bands that wrap around the structure seem to bandage and “heal” a “sick” body. Those bandages, coated with a paint capable of transforming sunlight into energy, are state of the art photovoltaic technology that “liberates” the tower from being a monstrous vertical city and a veritable sponge that sucks up energy. Thus, Green Cocoon has become sustainable construction, where design is also an expression of the technology of renewable sources of energy. The return match that architecture has granted nature is the solvation of mankind, who has understood that only if he respects the earth and safeguards the ecosystem, can he achieve true habitability: it is no longer a question of dominion, but of harmony. The views outside and the features of construction of the interiors take on soft curving shapes, in continuity with the complex architectural form. The green of the terraces has a dual purpose: habitability and comfort for man, respect and ecological benefits for the environment. The access footbridge to Green Cocoon, with its ribbon-like profiles mirrored in the water, confers a sensation of lightness, movement and the typical asymmetry of natural forms. So here is the skyscraper, which has become a green cocoon, and now seems to drink life from the mirror of water over which it towers, creating an ideal habitat.
