Reinvention of traditional barn house in a contemporary form Woodend / Australia / 2020

The Woodend is a beautiful suburb in regional victoria. it's very green and a paradise for nature lovers. we got a chance to involved in a very unique project in woodend. A reinvented contemporary barn house family residence for a small family. our main objective was to keep the external form simple and merge the building with the surrounding. The plot size is about 1500sqm with Creek behind. double-height living and dining hall has been opened up to the terrace at the back yard which is overlooking to the creek. Master bedroom on the upper floor has a nice view of the valley and overlooking living and dining hall below.
The main building is covered with standing seam steel clad and front facade is clad with hardwood including the flush garage door. Glass, steel, bricks, wood and concrete are the main material we used in this building to make it merge with the surrounding context and nature.
