Uyuni salt flat shelter

The project was born from the desire to evoke the memory and the heritage of the place, indeed it is inspired by Phutuku, the oldest form of refuge of the indigenous inhabitants Urus Chipayas.

Like a sort of relic in the boundless desert, the refuge is configured as a contemporary Phutuku whose transparency, in addition to reducing its visual impact in a breathtaking place, aims to promote an immersive experience and a 360 ° view of the landscape.

The refuge consists externally of corten steel sunblinds which, during the cold months (from February to October), allow the sun's rays to pass through with a low inclination, favoring the heating of the greenhouse behind; while during the warm months they act as a shield for the sun's rays with a higher inclination.

Solar shading convey rain water into an underground tank where it is stored and filtered for indoor use.

Photovoltaic mambranes present on the solar shading store the necessary amount of electricity in batteries placed in a room below the refuge.

Il progetto nasce dal desiderio di evocare la memoria e l'eredità del luogo, infatti è ispirato a Phutuku, la più antica forma di rifugio degli abitanti indigeni Urus Chipayas.

Come una sorta di reliquia nel deserto sconfinato, il rifugio è configurato come un Phutuku contemporaneo la cui trasparenza, oltre a ridurre il suo impatto visivo in un luogo mozzafiato, mira a promuovere un'esperienza immersiva e una vista a 360° del paesaggio.

Il rifugio è costituito esternamente da frangiole in acciaio corten che, durante i mesi freddi (da febbraio a ottobre), consentono ai raggi del sole di passare con una bassa inclinazione, favorendo il riscaldamento della serra alle spalle; mentre durante i mesi caldi fungono da scudo per i raggi del sole con una maggiore inclinazione.

Le lamelle del frangisole convogliano l'acqua piovana in un serbatoio sotterraneo dove viene immagazzinata e filtrata per uso interno.
Le mambrane fotovoltaiche presenti sulle lamelle immagazzinano la quantità necessaria di elettricità nelle batterie collocate in una stanza sotto il rifugio.
