Green-cream Shop | Chiara Scagliotti

Located in Milan, the economic capital of Italy, the site of the ice-cream shop it’s in one of the most important streets, directly linked to the city center. The client wanted to transform a very tiny space, before alive as a laundry area, in an ice-cream shop. Stories of Perspective deeply studied the location and the areas around defined the better point, the green areas, links, traffic, and many other points.

Until space, it’s very little and with lots of problems, we wanted to create a space more open and free than possible, following our criteria of freedom, sustainability and inclusivity, and trying to keep a better communication and flexibility between every area, to organize in the better and fast way the work inside the space for the employees.
We found the solution creating big windows, doors, and partitions all along with space, and creating a big window on the left wall in communication to the flower shop behind.
Our design offer many benefits:
- more light and open space inside;
- the possibility to see how the ice cream is made;
- the greenery area behind it help the wellness inside the space for employees and clients.

The ice-cream shop was developed in a vertical line, so all the designs emphasize the original layout with long light lines on the ceiling and vertical aluminum division for the ice-cream counters. The entrances and the divisions of the laboratory and the flower shop are glass panels which gave light, greenery atmosphere, and optically a bigger space. The materials used reflect the concept: terrazzo floor tiles, concrete, and aluminum are the main materials, which are easy to clean and to maintain. Durmast solid wood and painted petrol and green to create a unique and uniform atmosphere with the surrounding. The natural fabrics of the pillows and the strong leather handle are sophisticated details.
