Katrien from atelier MESTDAGH raised the question on how stained glass could be used in a new way to uplift the artistic craft today. Atelier JACK designed a writing table for users to retreat from the ‘all-connected’ outside world. A cocoon with a unique experience: due to a compact form, certain height and the use of the stained glass, the user instantly notices how surrounding noises fade out as he takes place at the table. The stained glass inspires the user when it dances in different light throughout the day.

To add to the feeling of retreating in a cocoon we selected a warm and strong wood, afrormosia, as working surface for the user to connect with. The afrormosia fits well with the chosen colours of the stained glass. An elegant white steel frame playfully connects all the pieces.

The stained glass as an ancient craft makes this desk relevant today. The handmade stained glass is each time different in colour and texture, making each piece of furniture unique.
