LuLaLi  is the proposal for an innovative Library for the small village of Lula. It has 1000 inhabitants and it is located in the heart of Sardinia, Italy, specifically in the remote area of Barbagia: a land of ancient culture and constructions like Nuraghes, misterious stone towers organized in groups to create small villages with peculiar patterns.

This ancient architectural typology, could represent a chance to reinvent traditions. The new library can work along with the contemporary art center that will be soon constructed in Lula and with other important ones that can be found in the area with the idea of creating a web of cultural institutions. We hope this program could also discourage the increasing depopulation that affects Sardinia, a phenomenon with tragic repercussions for the culture.

Our design consists in a village of glass towers, whom have different purposes: conference room, reading room, study room and services. The towers have a glass skin with innovative fotovoltaic devices that make the constructions sustainable, full of natural light but also pleasant to live. Moving shelves allow to reach easily to every book even in higher heights, and technological elements like interactive screens are thought to encourage new learning experiences.
