New work environments | Dimitar Gamizov

In my master thesis I want to develop a new concept for the workplace of the future. For this purpose, I chose an existing abandoned warehouse in Bergheim, near Salzburg Austria. Choosing an existing building brings a lot of potential for different approach in comparison with the standard office spaces.

With the rapid development of the technologies and automatization, we cannot tell for sure exactly how will we work in future. But almost every research shows that we will be engaged with much more creative tasks and not a repetitive one. This means that the working places that we occupy need to stimulate our creative thinking and make us feel better, while helping us to stay connected with each other and to be able to do spontaneous work at any given time and place.

I chose the former Universal Versand Warehouses in Bergheim near Salzburg, and especially Building 2, because of the unconventional space in provided. The aim is to create a space where people can feel connected and at the same time will have the possibility to work focused without anyone disturbing them. Furthermore, the idea was to blend the borders between outside and inside so people can feel like working in nature.
