Il locale, situato al piano terra di un normale edificio residenziale, si trova all'angolo tra due importanti strade della città; un interno molto ampio e ben illuminato, grazie alle vetrine su strada.
Lo sviluppo planimetrico ha permesso di determinare con facilità la zona destinata al pubblico verso i fronti stradali e l’area privata destinata alle cucine e ai locali di servizio nella parte più interna.
Il locale si chiama Antica Birreria; il proprietario gestisce una serie di locali con questo nome caratterizzati da un design un po' datato a metà strada tra una birreria del nord europa e una trattoria italiana.
Questo è stato il punto di partenza degli architetti che sono partiti da quel format rivisitandolo per creare un locale accogliente ma non privo di eleganza.
Lo spazio interno è caratterizzata da materiali nobili, caldi ed eleganti, in cui a dominare è il legno di rovere anticato, utilizzato per la boiserie (interrotta dai banconi rivestiti in marmo verde Guatemala), per le panche (insieme alle imbottiture in pelle verde che ricordano le sedute di un diner) e per la pavimentazione (in accostamento alle marmette a scacchi), oltre che dai lampadari in ottone contrapposti a elementi dallo stile industrial come il profilo in ferro che corre sul bordo superiore della boiserie, la resina cementizia grigia per le pareti, le reti elettrosaldate in cui si arrampica l’edera e gli impianti a vista sul soffitto nero. Il risultato è uno spazio armonioso, equilibrato e luminoso.
I numerosi pilastri al centro delle sale dedicate al pubblico sono stati camuffati integrandoli nell’arredo – boiseries e panche - e con le piante rampicanti.

Studio DiDeA converted a former clothes shop in a restaurant.
The venue is situated at the ground floor of a residential building at the crossing of two major city streets: the interior is wide and filled with light thanks to the large bright windows.
Its plan was particularly adapt to be a restaurant because it allowed to allocate the space for clients toward the streets , the kitchen and the other service rooms in the internal part.
The place is named Antica Birreria that means Ancient Brewery, since the client owns several restaurants with this name in Palermo, whose heavy design is something between northern european breweries and a lunch counter.
This was the starting point for the design team that revisited that format to create a welcoming but still elegant restaurant.
The interior design features noble and warm materials -among which oak wood largely used for the boiserie (interrupted by counters upholstered with green guatemala marble), for flooring (together with checkered tiles) and for benches upholstered with green leather reminiscent of diner style-as well as brass chandelier opposed to industrial style elements such as the iron profile on the upper edge of the boiserie, the gray cement resin for the walls, the electro-welded nets in which the ivy climbs and the exposed systems on the black ceiling.
The numerous pillars in the center of the rooms dedicated to the public have been camouflaged integrating them into the furnishings - boiseries and benches - and with climbing plants.
