Oslo Cultural Cathedral | Lorenzo Maggio

The building stands in a context of perfect balance between architecture and nature, in the natural memory of the Fjords and the North Sea (Skagerrak).

Project conceived as a unitary cultural complex and where it will be possible to live and share experiences with a strong artistic and cultural value.

The project takes inspiration from the hallmarks of the ancient architecture of the city of Oslo, reimagining and re-adapting the new forms, merging the concepts into a single building. All based on a sensitive approach to the context.

The building invites people to its use, and presents itself as a new center of gravity for the city. It is proposed as a reference point, also through its shape, its roof with spiers, so recognizable from any direction.
An area of collective public green is created that occupies most of the surface, on the side of the building. Understood as the fulcrum of the life of people outside the building, as a meeting place and a place of passage. A green area that imaginatively connects the city of Oslo to the north, with the new building facing the sea, all at the service of people and the city.

Ecosustainable and environmentally friendly approach, with the presence of a large amount of trees, outside and inside the building. They are an integral part of the project. Trees as a fundamental element in the process of transformation of the place, which reconnect us to the natural memory of the city. The tree represents the natural element and the memory of the landscape.

The body is unique, a single container of all the arts, inspired by the medieval Norwegian wooden churches.

Composed of three naves, flanked by each other, where functions and interior ambients are developed in this new "cathedral of culture".

L’edifico sorge in un contesto di perfetto equilibrio tra architettura e natura, nella memoria naturale dei Fiordi e del Mare del Nord (Skagerrak).

Progetto concepito come complesso culturale unitario e dove si avrà la possibilità di vivere e condividere esperienze dal forte valore artistico e culturale.

Il progetto prende ispirazione dai tratti distintivi dell’architettura antica della città di Oslo, reimmaginando e riadattando le nuove forme, fondendo i concetti in un unico edificio. Tutto basato su un sensibile approccio al contesto.

L’edificio invita le persone alla sua fruizione, e si pone come nuovo centro di gravità per la città. Si propone come punto di riferimento, anche tramite la sua forma, il suo tetto a guglie, così riconoscibile da qualsiasi direzione.
E’ creata un’area di verde pubblico collettivo che occupa la maggior parte della superficie, che occupa la parte laterale dell’edificio. Intesa come fulcro della vita delle persone all’esterno dell’edificio, come luogo di incontro e come luogo di passaggio. Un’area verde che collega immaginariamente la città di Oslo posta a nord, con il nuovo edificio che affaccia verso il mare, il tutto al servizio delle persone e della città.

Approccio ecosostenibile ed ecocompatibile, con la presenza di una forte quantità di alberi, all’esterno e all’interno dell’edificio. Essi sono parte integrante del progetto. Gli alberi come elemento fondamentale nel processo di trasformazione del luogo, che ci ricollegano alla memoria naturale nervegese e della città. L’albero rappresenta l’elemento naturale e la memoria del paesaggio.

Il corpo è unico, un unico contenitore di tutte le arti, ispirato alle chiese di legno medievali norvegesi.

Costituito da tre navate, affiancate tra esse, dove in questa nuova “cattedrale della cultura” si sviluppano le funzioni e gli ambienti.
