Located in Aspen Snowmass, the 560m² house was built in 1990 and recently transformed into a charming shelter by Brazilian architect Patricia Martinez. The house renovation was planned to attend the needs of a family of four, a couple and their two children. They have been frequenting Aspen for the past 18 years and fell in love with de Snowmass spot a couple of years ago.

Originally from São Paulo, Patrícia Martinez worked thoroughly during a whole year, taking trips to the renovation every forty days. The result is an unbelievably breathtaking shelter that became a retreat for a family to spend quality time together

A partnership with the American architecture office, Menendez Architects was sealed to get everything done according to the legislation of the region. The result sums up to beautiful glass windows that goes from top to bottom of the living. The outside view becomes a part of the decoration. As requested by the owners, the decoration on the inside was based on light colors and clear shades of caramel, brown and off white. These shades fortify the welcoming feeling of ultra-comfortable textures. Patricia reinforces ‘’She's synesthetic. The house embraces us in different ways.’’

The houses decoration brings remarkable names on every detail. The paintings are extraordinary by names such as Fábio Miguez and Sérgio Sister on the guest rooms. The luminares are by Julio Le Parc, Laura Vinci e Eduardo Coimbra. The house’s owner, a successful economist, explains that everything is meant to be combined on a settle way. They worried more about bringing items that made them feel good, welcomed and relaxed.

Patrícia Martinez focused on organic, feminine, contemporaneous and clean forms for the whole properties design, just as the owners requested. The intention was not to create a luxuous space, but a comforting and practical shelter. The architect was successful on that goal.
