The mountainous landscape was taken as the prototype of the image of the new building of the National Bank, adding vertical dynamics to the steppe landscape of Astana. Play on the contrast of the plane of the steppe interesting bright silhouette of the building. The union of two bright images of Kazakhstan - mountains and prairie.

Solutions:

- A large enough spot in width for the building, cut into sections suitable for offices, and joined together by atriums that have become common spaces in the centre of the building
- Due to the alternation of transparent and matte parts of the glazing, our team achieved a reduction in the amount of solar energy that would penetrate into the building in the summer, thereby saving on air conditioning
- Departure from the classical ideas of the formation of internal, demi-season spaces, personal zones

Facts and details:

- The prototype of the forms of the new building of the National Bank is a mountain landscape characteristic of Almaty, the southern capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- The second associative line of the building form we proposed is the fluctuation graphs of permanent changes in financial indices, graphically similar to mountain landscapes
- The site is part of a territory that is being actively built up in preparation for the EXPO 2017, the development of which was planned to continue after the EXPO
