The Spiegel canteen is the work of the world-famous Danish interior designer Verner Panton, who filled it with specially designed furniture, lights, wall objects, curtains, carpets and a coffered ceiling. The "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" described the brightly coloured “psychedelic” design as “the most radical office interior that Germany had ever seen at the time”. After the publisher moved out, it was placed under a preservation order and given a new home in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe – with woven wall-to-wall carpet called “Kairo” by Vorwerk flooring.
