Bibliothèque Mériadeck

This library is one of the biggest in France and is located just a few steps away from the busy centre of Bordeaux. Surrounded by "échoppes" – single- or two-storey rows of houses with small gardens – the Mériadeck is also a popular city quarter to live. The library is home to more than one million books, all encased in an architectural design that is nothing short of astonishing: a modern polygon of glass and concrete spread across eleven storeys, whose huge spaces appear to shine from the inside out – for the floor designs by Vorwerk flooring.
