West Seno Waterfront

The project area is located at the west breast of Brindisi, where there are different types of cities. To the south the consolidated city comes inconsistently to the coast, on which is placed a military area that prevents sight of the sea. To the north the city, expanding, presents a heterogeneous tissue consisting of a series of independent subdivisions. The project's main objective is the reconnection of the two areas of the city bordering the west breast. Such reconnection occurs both visually, through the use of a continuous system of facades on both sides of the breast, or through a road link consists of a bridge which crosses the blade to the extreme of the breast. The articulation of the city determines two different design solutions: on the south side of the project tends to accommodate the tissue behind it retains the pace and roads but at the same time determining a definite limit to allow the city to overlook the sea. To the north a long body consists of terraced houses imposes new step from which the city starts to connect to the new expansion area.
