Nightingale | Gabriel Piedrahita
Bar & Restaurant New York / United States / 2018
The name Nightingale is inspired by Health and Nature - Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and the bird. A place completely immersed in the context of its surroundings, Nightingale invites patrons to experience the outdoors of this unique area in the West Village. Incorporating design elements from the historic St Vincent’s hospital across the street, where six generations of Villagers have been born and taken care of, and from the trees in the St Vincent’s Park where Nightingales could perch.
The hand cut mirrored tiles of the walls expand the perception of the long narrow space, reflecting the lighted curves of the “tree-hand” features and the arches of the bar. A place that mirrors the historic elements of the surrounding streets in its interiors.
