Cascais is a village located in the Westside of Portugal and have always had an inherent relationship with the sea. The presented idea for the Sommer Pavilion 2018 - under the theme “Water” - followed the research on how the sea could somehow be expressed in the intervention site - The Parada’s garden. The project is shaped by drafting axis related with the sea, with the intention of bringing the sea into the garden, and therefore, a strong geometry was created, attaching it into the site. A triangular shape is created, bringing the idea of memory from the water pond that once existed at the centre of the garden, roughly in the place where is currently the statue of Costa Pinto - Former mayor of Cascais (1890-1909). These two elements will define the intervention. The Sommer Pavilion 2018 cosists in three objects, creating new spatial experiences with the garden, the statue and the surroundings.

Firstly a new water pond is set by the drafted axis geometry. Towards the north side of the garden is placed the exhibition pavilion. To the west is set a sculptural element mimicking the pavilion tectonics creating a scenical positioning hiding the statue making it an object of curiosity.
