AQUATIO CAVE LUXURY HOTEL & SPA | Simone Micheli

ITA: Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & SPA si sviluppa lungo un costone del Sasso Caveoso, prendendone una fetta, dal basso verso l'alto per una superficie complessiva di circa 5000 mq. La parte più bassa con accesso da via B.Buozzi ospita: la reception, il ristorante, la sala colazioni, la sala meeting, il centro benessere. L'ingresso si apre su due ampi slarghi che anticamente erano dei vicinati. Il progetto, coerentemente con la loro antica funzione, ha mantenuto il carattere di convivialità dei luoghi, attraverso l'area del relax , della ristorazione e delle numerose piazzette di incontro. Anche gli interni risentono esteticamente di questa funzione, le chianche che troviamo come pavimentazione dei vicinati entrano come fossero un'unica superficie, quasi a volerne indicare una continuità ideale.

L’architetto Simone Micheli ha firmato Il progetto di interior design ed illuminotecnico. Gli arredi, vere e proprie opere d'arte, bianchi, fluidi, senza spigoli, fluttuano sui pavimenti. Gli schermi bianchi, che ricordano nel colore il latte di calce con cui i materani sanificavano gli interni delle loro abitazioni-grotta sono elementi funzionali alla distribuzione degli spazi e all'alloggiamento di terminali d'impianti. Sono costruzioni di nuovo impianto, artifici progettuali, sono come fantasmi rispettosi, non toccano mai le pareti in tufo, si avvicinano, si piegano. Le superfici scavate e le volte sono state ripulite da licheni ed efflorescenze e riportate alla loro condizione iniziale di colore, come se lo scavo di quelle parti fosse stato appena realizzato. Nella calcarenite riportata al suo colore naturale, senza scialbature, senza intonaci, compaiono tracce di conchiglie fossili, proprio ad evidenziare la sua antica origine marina.

L'illuminazione proviene dal basso, attraverso corpi illuminanti discreti, posizionati in maniera strategica per creare effetti scenografici unici. "Creare emozioni" è il concept che animato l’intero fare progettuale.

Il centro benessere è lo spazio dove questo motto si esprime al meglio, infatti è un luogo suggestivo e occupa il cuore più profondo della struttura, recuperando locali ipogei risalenti al IX secolo. Il vano grotta più grande ospita la piscina bordo sfioro , intonacata con tecniche tradizionali. Le vecchie cisterne recuperate sono state trasformate in docce emozionali e una parte dei lettini é stata ricavata modellando ergonomicamente il “tufo”. Non mancano spazi massaggio singolo e di coppia, hammam, sauna, cabine estetiche, zone relax.

L'acqua ritorna dove è sempre stata a ricordare le vecchie conche che erano dislocate lungo tutto il costone, prima funzionali alla quotidianità della vita degli abitanti della contrada da cui prende il nome, ora spazi di lusso dedicati al benessere.

Il ristorante, con annesse cucine, si espande all'esterno in una corte raggiungibile direttamente da via B.Buozzi,. Pregevole è l'aspetto estetico di questo spazio risalente al XIII secolo, arricchito da archi e muri di controspinta che lo delimitano .

Il centro di questo vicinato è una cisterna recuperata, all'interno della quale sono convogliate le acque piovane, utili ad alimentare i servizi. Un canale di acqua esterno è visibile lungo l'arco di accesso e ne denuncia la presenza. All'interno del ristorante, che ha una capienza di circa 80 posti a sedere, si trovano: il punto accoglienza del maître di sala, un' area lounge bar, una biblioteca.

La sala ristorante è uno spazio flessibile, intercomunicante con la sala colazione e l'area meeting. La sua capienza varia a seconda delle occasioni, mettendosi a disposizione degli eventi e delle esigenze contingenti. Gli arredi progettati e realizzati su misura, di colore bianco sono il marchio di fabbrica dell'arch. Simone Micheli. Arredi discreti, leggeri, minimali, fluidi, ma al tempo stesso adeguati allo spazio ed alla funzione. Tutto ciò che si aggiunge all'esistente è denunciato nel materiale e nel colore, ciò che c'era viene preservato e riportato alle sue fattezze originarie.

Dalla reception è possibile accedere direttamente ai vari livelli della struttura attraverso un ascensore nella roccia oppure un percorso pedonale coperto che serpeggia dietro la maggior parte delle camere poste controterra.

ENG: Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & SPA is developed along a ridge of Sasso Caveoso, taking a slice, from the bottom up to a total area of about 5000 square meters. The lower part with access from via B.Buozzi host: the reception, the restaurant, the breakfast room, the meeting room, the wellness center.

The entrance opens on two large open spaces that in previous times were neighborhoods. The project keep it with their previous function, it has maintained the conviviality of the place, through the relaxation area and the restoration of the meeting points. Even the interiors are affected aesthetically by this function, the chianche that we find as flooring enters as if they were a single surface, as if to indicate an ideal continuity.

The architect Simone Micheli has signed The interior design and lighting design project. The furnishings, true works of art, white, fluid, without edges, float on the floors. The white screens, reminiscent of the color of the lime with which the materani
sanitized the interiors of their cave are functional elements for the distribution of spaces and the housing of plant terminals. They are constructions of new plant, project artifices, they are like respectful ghosts, they never touch the walls in tufa, they approach, they bend.
The excavated surfaces and the vaults have been cleaned of lichen and efflorescence and brought back to their initial condition of color, as if the excavation of those parts had just been completed. Traces of fossil counts appear in the calcium resin, brought back to its natural color, without bleaching, without plastering, in order to highlight its ancient marine origin.

Lighting comes from below, through discrete lighting fixtures, strategically positioned to create unique scenographic effects.

The wellness center is the space where this motto is best expressed, in fact it is a suggestive place
and occupies the deepest heart of the structure, recovering hypogeal rooms dating back to the ninth century. The largest cave compartment houses the infinity edge pool, plastered with traditional techniques. The old cisterns recovered have been transformed into emotional showers and part of the cots has been created by ergonomically modeling the "tuff". There is no lack of space for single and couple massage, Turkish bath, sauna, beauty cabins, relaxation areas.
The water returns where it has always been to remember the old basins that were located along the ridge, first functional to the daily life of the inhabitants of the district from which it takes its name, now luxury spaces dedicated to well-being.
The restaurant, with adjoining kitchens, expands outside in a courtyard that can be reached directly from via B.Buozzi. Valuable is the aesthetic aspect of this space dating back to the XIII century, enriched by arches and walls of counter-thrust that delimit it.
The center of this neighborhood is a recovered cistern, inside which the rainwater pipes are conveyed, useful for supplying the services. An external water channel is visible along the access arch and indicates its presence. Inside the restaurant, which has a capacity of about 80 seats, there are: the welcome point of the Maître d'hôtel, a lounge bar area and a library.
The restaurant room is a flexible, intercommunicating space with the breakfast room and the meeting area. Its capacity varies according to the occasions, making itself available to contingent events and needs. The white custom made furniture designed, is the trademark of the architect. Simone Micheli. Discreet, light, minimal furnishings, fluid, but at the same time adequate to space and function. What was there is preserved and restored to its original features.
From the reception you can directly access the various levels of the structure through a lift in the rock or a covered walkway that winds behind most of the chambers placed in the ground.
