The Steam Plant Building is a National Historic Building that has been a dominant fixture of the Spokane skyline for the past century. The original building had a beautiful gritty and rustic vibe that made the architects and designers want to highlight these features so guests could enjoy the historical elements of the space. They brought in a warm rich red oak butcher block for the bar and table tops to mesh well with preexisting concrete and steel. Paint was used in a clever way to either mute or highlight existing elements in the space.

Elements of emphasis include: the existing flooring tile had to be removed and actual man-hole covers were inset in the floor as accent pieces. The bar was designed with a new beer tap to emulate the steam pipes that once weaved through the building and was painted gold to look like the liquid gold that flows in them; the beer made in the brewery also located in the building.
