Our client hired us to design a modern and sustainable villa after purchasing a 1970s home. We aim to preserve as much of the existing structure as possible while adding a new volume through a light timber frame construction. The exterior walls are insulated and finished with brick slips, stucco and wood for a warm touch. The house is extended on two sides with a master bedroom and a dining area surrounded by glass for a garden view. A covered terrace with a slatted roof is located between the two extensions. The architecture is understated at the front and open at the rear to connect with the garden. The villa is energy-neutral with high-quality insulation, triple glass, a heat pump system, a heat recovery installation and solar panels.
