Le quattro viste di Marciana Marina | Architetto Nicola Ghilardi

Every time I go back to Marciana Marina I am embraced by a multitude of pleasant emotions, but the one that fascinates me the most is the plenitude of panoramic views

Unfortunately, a lot of this glamour is of difficult perception, that’s why I feel compelled to provide a little bit of my creativity and leave an advice that I hope will be appreciated

The idea is the one of the “four views”

“The first view” cannot be anything but the one that welcomes you at the entrance of the gulf in the Victoria Plaza, a view that embraces the sea and the history of the place

On one side “Torre Saracena” known as “Torre degli Appiani”, on the other the access to “Borgo del Cotone”, and in between the sea with the touristic port

The ideal cue is the one of the info point

Ogni volta che torno a Marciana Marina vengo colto da una moltitudine di piacevoli sensazioni, ma quella che più di altre mi entusiasma è la vista dei tanti scorci panoramici.

Purtroppo molta di questa bellezza è di difficile percezione ed è per questo che mi sento spinto a regalare un pochino della mia creatività e lasciare un suggerimento che spero possa piacere.

L’idea è quella delle “quattro viste”

La prima vista non può che essere quella che accoglie all’ingresso del golfo in piazza Vittoria, uno sguardo che abbraccia mare e storia, da un lato la torre saracena detta torre degli Appiani, dall’altro l’accesso al borgo del cotone e in centro il mare col porto turistico.

Lo spunto ideale è quello del rinnovo dell’infopoint;

 Ho pensato ad una struttura a torre che facesse da contrappunto alla torre storica, realizzata con le caratteristiche dei vecchi borghi, rivestita con il granito dell’Elba a sottolineare l’appartenenza al territorio.

Un fabbricato dove inserire gli spazi di ricezione per l’informazione ai turisti, la cui copertura a terrazza, costituisce un formidabile nuovo punto di vista panoramico, libero dall’ostacolo delle auto parcheggiate e raggiungibile per mezzo di una ampia scalinata e soprattutto da una rampa che avvolge la torre realizzata per essere fruibile anche da persone con ridotta capacità motoria,

Il punto, così sopraelevato, costituisce la partenza del percorso delle “quattro viste”, e diventa il primo richiamo per turisti e residenti

Proseguiamo fino all’area di piazzale Bonanno, uno spazio libero collocato a metà della passeggiata lungomare;

Quando penso al paese che si rinnova, che si aggiorna, la prima cosa che mi viene in mente di proporre è la realizzazione di una struttura multifunzionale e versatile la cui funzione principale è l’auditorium.

Un fabbricato il cui fronte, dalle forme leggere e trasparenti, si proietta verso il mare, sorretto da sponde in granito; Un contenitore da utilizzare per spettacoli, concerti, meeting e libero di essere trasformato in salone delle feste per eventi mondani e culturali come il premio letterario “La Torre”.

Anche l’area alla base è uno spazio polifunzionale che da posteggio per gli eventi diventa mercato coperto, caratteristica di forte richiamo anche in giornate piovose.

La sommità della struttura attrezzata a lounge bar dotato di una vasta terrazza, diventa, ovviamente, il “secondo punto di vista” del percorso da cui si domina, letteralmente, tutto il golfo.

Dall’auditorium parte il “terzo punto di vista” una passerella sul mare;

Questa volta la vista si appropria del contatto diretto col mare, saltando l’area a parcheggio che ostacolava la vista del porto, collocandosi a pelo d’acqua, si snoda fino alla capitaneria.

Di giorno si gode del contatto diretto con l’acqua e di sera si viene guidati da una linea di luce che rappresenta lo skyline delle fronti delle case sulla via, in un susseguirsi di emozioni che trattengono sul luogo il visitatore.

Il “quarto punto di vista” è ancora una terrazza, un elemento architettonico che richiama l’idea degli antichi bastioni che ben si sposa con la torre saracena, costruito a ridosso della capitaneria di porto, con la funzione di mascherare il vecchio anonimo fabbricato della capitaneria senza stravolgerlo, di inserire i nuovi servizi igienici a servizio del porto e allo stesso tempo di costituire un ampliamento della spiaggia, mediante la realizzazione di piazzuole gradonate adagiate sulla terrazza come se fossero scogli su cui stendersi al sole.

Ecco completi i quattro punti di vista che, sono sicuro, saranno presi d’assalto nella notte della festa patronale di Santa Chiara per ammirare i fantastici fuochi d’artificio di Marciana Marina.

A building with areas that serve as reference for tourists

In addition, its terrace constitutes a new and breathtaking panoramic view point, free from the inconvenience of parked vehicles and accessible through a broad staircase, but most of all by a ramp that embraces the tower, designed as well as an advantage for people with limited mobility

The tower at its height represents the starting point of the path of the four views and becomes a landmark for tourists and residents

Moving forward we get to the area of “Piazzale Bonanno”, a space located half way through the seafront

When I think about the town that renovates, the first thing that I want to suggest is the creation of a multifunctional and versatile complex, whose main function is the auditorium

A building with a front characterized by light and transparent forms, projected toward the sea, supported by granite pillars

A recipient suited to welcome shows, concerts, meetings, and able to transform into a grand hall for mundane and cultural events, like the Literature Prize “La Torre”

Even the area on the ground level is a multifunctional space, that converts from parking lot for the events to indoor market

An important attraction even during rainy days

The rooftop of the building, designed as lounge bar, equipped with a wide terrace becomes of course “the second view point” of the journey, that literally dominates the entire gulf

From the auditorium we continue on to “the third view point”, a catwalk on the sea.

This time the sight is captured by the immense beauty of the sea

By eliminating the parking area that obstructs the view of the port, the visual field is placed at sea level and continues all the way to the harbor office.

By day we enjoy the contact with the water and by night we are driven by a line of lights that represents the skyline of the house fronts on the way, in a series of emotions that will amaze the tourists

“The fourth view point” is another terrace

An element that brings to mind the idea of the ancient elevations, that goes perfectly with the architectural style of the old tower

Built in the vicinity of the harbor office with the purpose of concealing the old and anonymous harbor building without, however, altering it to insert new public restrooms and at the same time to expand the beach through the creation of a series of big steps that are positioned on the terrace as if they were rocks suited for laying down and sunbathing

The journey is now complete

I am sure that the four viewpoints will be attractive gathering sites on the night of Santa Chiara’s festival, to admire the spectacular fireworks of Marciana Marina
