UNA CASA IN LEGNO, INCASTONATA TRA I BOSCHI E IL LAGO DI VARESE.

La casa sorge alle pendici del Campo dei fiori, in una magnifica posizione che abbraccia la conca del Lago di Varese e dalla quale si può spingere lo sguardo oltre la sponda occidentale del Lago Maggiore, verso l'arco Alpino, dal Monte Rosa al Monviso. L'edificio si dispone nella proprietà in cerca del sole e della vista migliore.

Un semplice manufatto in calcestruzzo, contenendo il terreno declinante, definisce alla quota superiore il piano della fondazione, mentre al livello inferiore individua i posti auto, un locale di deposito e la zona destinata all'area ecologica.

Il percorso di accesso svela progressivamente il semplice volume della costruzione conducendo all'ingresso, situato sul lato settentrionale e indicato da una piattaforma sporgente. Una rotazione impressa al volume originario genera in pianta un'impronta trapezoidale, il cui senso si trova nella volontà di inquadrare il paesaggio lacustre e anche di permettere l'affaccio al sole del sud delle camere e del soggiorno.

A nord si collocano i locali tecnici e di servizio, mentre gli spazi di vita si dispongono a godere della luce del giorno, con ampie aperture fisse e ante apribili protette da schermature solari a lamelle mobili. La zona giorno è protetta a sud-ovest da un ampio loggiato; un particolare dispositivo architettonico consente di illuminare le parti più profonde del locale. L'involucro definisce un volume semplice e stereometrico, segnato dalle aperture vetrate e dalle incisioni dell'ingresso e della loggia, queste ultime rivestite in tavole di legno di larice.

L'edificio è realizzato in legno con struttura a pannelli tipo x-lam e impiega materiali naturali ovunque possibile. L'isolamento è in fibra di legno, i pannelli di finitura in gesso-fibra. Le tinteggiature sono a base di calce così come le finiture dei bagni e della cucina. L'efficienza energetica elevata e l'impiantistica di avanguardia consentono scelte radicali, come ad esempio la rinuncia alla fornitura di gas metano: piastre a induzione sostituiscono i fornelli in cucina e una pompa di calore alimentata da un impianto fotovoltaico sostituisce la tradizionale caldaia.

A WOODEN HOUSE, NESTLED ON THE SIDE OF MOUNT CAMPO DEI FIORI, OVER THE SHORES OF LAGO DI VARESE.
 
The house lies on the slopes of Mount Campo dei Fiori, in a wonderful position dominating the Varese Lake and the western shore of Lake Maggiore, an observation point looking to a huge portion of Alpine arc, from Monte Rosa to Monviso. The displays itself in the property in search for the sun and the best views.

A simple concrete structure contains the declining ground and defines at the upper level the house foundation, while at the lower level identifies the parking spaces, a storage room and the waste bins.

The access path gradually reveals the construction volume and conducts to the entrance, located on the northern side of the house and indicated by a protruding platform. The trapezoidal footprint of the plan finds his reasons in the desire to frame the lakeside landscape and in the effort to give the principal rooms a southern exposition.

Technical facilities and storage spaces are located on the northern side of the house, while the living spaces are arranged in order to enjoy the daylight, with large windows and doors protected by mobile sun-shading systems. The living expands his space outside the house with a large porch; being the room quite deep, a particular architectural device helps with the natural illumination preserving at the same time privacy and intimacy. The shell defines a simple stereo-metric volume, marked by the windows and the cuttings of the entrance and the lodge, the latter covered with boards of larch.

The building is characterized by a wooden x-lam panel structure. Natural materials are used wherever is possible: wood fiber panels for the insulation, wood for the flooring and lime plaster for the walls. High efficiency in energy saving and advanced technological systems allow radical choices, such as the renunciation of natural gas supply: induction plates replace the stove in the kitchen and a heat pump fed by a photovoltaic system replaces the traditional boiler.
