Alfred Nobel had a clear vision of the prize he created. He wished to reward contributions in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace. He wrote in his will that the prize would be awarded to those who “have conferred the greatest benefit to mankind.”

2014 David Chipperfield won the international design competition for the new Nobel Center in Stockholm, Sweden. In competition with architeture firms such as SANAA, Snøhetta, BIG and OMA.

The proposed building has an elegant, timeless and attractive external appearance, which according to the jury can symbolise Nobel-related activities in a persuasive way.
