Confluence

Every person goes through transformative periods in life that have to do with their personal or professional development, changing attitudes towards work and family, and they eventually result in rethinking the values and priorities.

I have always been hungry for knowledge and open to artistic experiments which led me to experience many changes in the last few years.  Initially I painted in oil, and was looking to simplify my technical method. This made me ditch figurative art in favour of the abstract. Achieving simplicity was my main goal with fine art. In order to be harmonious, simple forms must have perfect proportions and correlations. I found that through playing with textures and colours.

Then I fell in love with architecture and strived to translate its language - the most gigantic symbolic form of communication ever created  - through my art. It was then that I started using cement, metal, neon and wood to complement my oil work and reinforce my message.

This series of works is called Unity. My experience living and working in Mexico, getting acquainted with its nature and culture reshaped to a great extent my artistic vision and the vision of beauty.

Through these works I am attempting to interpret the many notions of Unity.  It's not limited to combining different materials, forms and techniques. Perhaps, someone will recognize traces of Soviet modernism, while others will see rivers and waterfalls. There is something for everyone to see and relate to.

So please join me in this exploration of two entities - an artist's imagination and its physical expression.
