Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum and Hotel George Town / Malaysia
This restoration and re-use project is aimed at harnessing the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as valued factors of local and global culture. In this sense, TCM will be the key point of a holistic customer experience. Besides the typical hospitality facilities, the new complex will include a medical hall, a museum gallery and a resource centre dedicated to TCM. The conservation of tangible and intangible heritage is coupled with a sustainable design approach. Documents, tools, herbs, etc. found on the premises have been conserved and they will be part of the collection exhibited in the TCM gallery. Ceramic tiles, timber boards and other material dismantled from the existing building are re-used for the interior fitting out.
