When a retired business woman was in need of a small, cozy space, she was referred to Design by Hila Marin Studio. From the moment she sat down with the design team she immediately felt a strong chemistry and understanding. As a first step, they discussed what she liked and didn’t like about her existing living space, and what she envisioned for her future apartment. “This initial back and forth is an extremely vital part of the design process,” says Hila Shtibel, lead architect and founder of Design by Hila Marin Studio. “Without it, we cannot create the most ideal, beautiful end result for our clients.”

The client was moving out of a very large, cluttered space and wanted her new apartment to be a warm, cozy environment that would make her feel at home, relaxed, and at peace. She had recently purchased an existing four bedroom, 95 square meter apartment in Tel-Aviv and wanted it converted to a three bedroom apartment for just herself.

She aspired to have the new apartment to capture the experience of a modern, and simple design to blend the interaction of view, light, form, and aesthetics. The inspiration for the design was akin to what one might find in a luxury boutique hotel suite. It was to be minimalistic, with clean lines, but very warm with various wood accents. The overall design was developed to consist of a primarily monochromatic color palette with splashes of earth tones strategically positioned throughout the floorplan. A strategic and clearly playful use of geometric shapes–from floors to walls to ceiling–makes the space feel like something that was torn from the pages of architectural digest magazine.

The apartment was precisely and exquisitely designed with functionality in mind using clean lines in a modern, contemporary style. Design by Hila Marin Studio playfully integrated natural light wherever possible which resulted in a relaxing space that was quiet, energy efficient, and meditative which facilitates a surreal escape from the hectic outside world when one enters the exquisite space.

The client was very satisfied with the end result and continues to enjoy her slice of paradise every day.
