Haus am Wald | Alexander Brenner Architects
Stuttgart / Germany / 2016
The property is located at the end of a cul-de-sac road with an existing development predominantly from the 1960s, on the northern edge of Stuttgart-Schoenberg and directly adjoining to the forest.
The garage body, which extends below the house, shields the house and the garden from the street and directs the arriving via a small "piazza" to the entrance.
Inside, a large void above the entrance connects all three floors of the house and provides a wide range of views.
Downstairs are the access, as well as wardrobe, storage and auxiliary rooms.
The dining and living area on the ground floor is oriented with its open glazing over the terrace towards the west to the garden and the forest.
In order to avoid a thermal insulation composite system, the entire building was constructed with exterior walls of aerated concrete in a thickness between 50 and 65 cm.
The entire interior, all fixtures and cupboards were planned as an integral part of the overall architecture and are designed and individually manufactured for this house.
