Residents: Parents + 2 Small Children
Professions: Businessman
The house: Extended, fully renovated, two floors, 270 square meter lot in Tel Aviv.
Ground floor contains: Living room, dining area, kitchen and family den.
Second floor contains: Master bedroom, two children’s rooms with shared bathroom.
Basement contains: Gym and playroom (the space also functions as a guest room) and laundry room.

On a 700 square meter corner lot in Tel Aviv, along the seam of a luxurious residential area with private houses and a condominium complex, stands a small, old house with a tiled roof and once whole columned floor, open on both sides. The client wanted the house to be renovated around its existing frame. We had to take into account the way the house was built - right against another building, close to the condominium with an expansive garden facing the more luxurious houses.  We chose to design the entrance from this street. As the gate opens, the main garden is revealed and the wide path to the entrance spreads across the lot surrounded by thick vegetation. The idyllic yet urban path leads you to the outer entrance, sheltered by a pergola made of a mix of wood and iron. The topography of the lot makes the house appear as if it only has one floor with a tiled roof divided into two levels. The front door opens into a wide lobby. The inner space hidden in the roof is revealed to allow you to observe the different functions beneath it.  The living room, kitchen and dining area were designed as one big space with a tall ceiling, out of which you can exit to a pergola overseeing the garden. Next to the main space, the family den can be separated from the rest of the space with glazed sliding doors. When the doors are open, however, the den blends seamlessly into the rest of the space. The den also allows you to exit to a seating area by the pool.

Short steps lead to the upper entrance hall overseeing the main space below. On this floor you will find two children’s bedrooms, a shared bathroom and the master bedroom. The bedrooms, like the rest of the house, were designed as one large space with a tall ceiling. Using wood, iron and glass and covering the frontal façade of the house with bricks makes the house seem as if it’s a loft dipping into the garden.
