Kimpton® De Witt, the hotly anticipated first European hotel from leading luxury boutique brand, Kimpton® Hotels & Restaurants, opens in the heart of Amsterdam on Monday 22 May.
Set within two original buildings from the Dutch Golden Age in the Palace Quarter neighbourhood, steps away from Amsterdam’s Centraal Station, Kimpton De Witt has 274 guest rooms, including 9 signature suites — many of which have private terraces.

A modern take on Dutch classics
The hotel has a thoughtfully curated design that honours the local heritage, combining a late 20th-century building with those from the elegant Dutch Golden Age. True to Kimpton’s bold and playful design, the hotel has a spirited edge which is immediately evident, from the striking ‘living wall’ of vibrant florals and botanicals trailing the entrance, to the blue Delft-inspired tiles paving the bathroom floors. The hotel also has its own flower shop and an interior open-air courtyard which offers a welcome and tranquil escape from the vibrancy of the city outside. The bedrooms are filled with unexpected yet refined touches such as fun interpretations of classic Dutch art, custom-made beautifully crafted desks, quirky Atelier Areti bird bedside lamps and Pols Potten porcelain gold-dipped parrot statues, which bring a surprising and charming element to each space.

Kimpton De Witt features many much-loved unique and personal touches with a local slant: guests can pedal away and explore the city on complimentary VanMoof bikes; share an evening drink with the team at the nightly hosted ‘Social Hour’ from 5pm; and feel pampered with luxurious in-room toiletries from Amsterdam-based natural skin care brand Marie-Stella-Maris (also available to purchase in the hotel’s pop-up shop).

A house within a hotel
Within the hotel stands a three-storey ‘Little House,’ which dates back to the 1600s and was once the childhood home of Dutch playwright P.C. Hooft. Small groups can book the Little House for a private residential experience; it offers two king-sized rooms and a first-floor living room. A separate ground floor, attached to the hotel lobby, houses the P.C. Hooft boardroom. Kimpton De Witt’s signature suite, Penthouse De Witt, is split over two storeys and the 30-square metre roof terrace offers spectacular views of the city and the iconic canal house rooftops.

“We’ve been busy immersing ourselves in the fun-spirited and vibrant culture of this amazing city and are excited to be part of it,” said Mike Robinson, General Manager of Kimpton De Witt. “As with all Kimpton Hotels, guests can expect an exceptionally personal approach to service, bold and playful design, and a truly local feel.”

Neighbourhood restaurant and bar
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is renowned for award-winning bars and restaurants and Kimpton De Witt is no different. Wyers Bar & Restaurant provides a stylish yet relaxed environment to enjoy delicious American comfort food with a Dutch twist, courtesy of Executive Chef and native New Yorker, Sam DeMarco (a.k.a SammyD). Signature dishes include the Reuben Sandwich, Vitello Tonnato and a Kimchi Bacon Hot Dog, and the inventive cuisine celebrates seasonal produce from local suppliers and farmers. Featuring an extensive list of unusual and hyperlocal gins and genevers, House Bar is the spot to enjoy a late-night drink in the most historic and original part of the building. Set in a 1645 former family home, House Bar’s discreet, modern ambience exudes Dutch hospitality and experimental drinks can be complemented with cocktail-friendly bites. Local passers-by can grab a hot cup of strong coffee, made with coffee beans roasted locally especially for the cafe and fresh sugar-dusted beignets, at Miss Louisa Coffee & Beignets. The walk-up window is open for early morning, afternoon and evening snacks.
