Spread across 300 sq. yards, this residence in Jagriti Enclave, New Delhi was skillfully segregated into different function spaces like the bedrooms, living areas, work area, ancillary spaces and a space that helps them relax and unwind. Located in a congested urban locale, the architects have focused on creating recreational and relaxing space for their clients to unwind. The house creates levels of privacy within an urban environment, where users interact with each other and also enjoy the outdoor space. Inspired by the vernacular typology of traditional homes, a veranda was designed on the roof, a space crafted out as an extension of the living area serving as a quiet interface between the indoors and the outdoors. The residence comprises of a work area in the basement with private access and family areas at the levels above. For a small family, it was required that one could keep an eye around, while involved in an activity. Kitchen being the most active area was planned as the pivot of the living space, such that multiple sight lines were created to the residence entry, living area and the son’s bedroom. The wood used in certain areas accounts to offering warmness within. Greens outside and at the terrace in form of vertical lines and floor cover bring the inhabitants closer to the environment. The furniture used all across the house is simple yet classy, giving the house a luxe appeal. As far as, lighting is concerned, each area gets its own share of light thus making the home look bright yet beautiful.
